Architecture53seven is focussed on the delivery of inventive architecture,
with particular interest in developing new forms of occupation that reflect
the complexities of modern life. Established by Jason O'Shaughnessy in 1999,
architecture53seven has developed a series of acclaimed projects In Ireland
and overseas which display an understanding of the contemporary role of
architecture in society. Their work has been published throughout the World
and won plaudits from several International Architectural Commentators and
Critics.
The practice was awarded a Special Commendation as part of the inaugural
World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards in Barcelona, whilst were part of
the 25 architects on a longlist for Building Design Young Architect of the
Year 2008 - open to architects under 40 in the UK and Ireland. It has also
received nomination for consideration in the prestigious European Union
Prize for Contemporary Architecture - the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2009.
What we aim to suggest in terms of urban planning is create a more intimate
connection between those using these buildings/spaces and the architecture
itself, thereby allowing for a greater potential for social interaction and
the creation of urban forms and spaces that are vibrant and sustainable. We
consider the application of such ambitions and processes are instrumental in
providing our Clients with the range of complex tools required to develop
their ambitious projects in the built environment.
