Defining Space Symposium 2007:
Architecture 53seven to display at Defining Space International
Symposium on Architecture. The conference will begin on the
afternoon of Thursday 11 October and end on the evening of
Saturday 13 October. There will be three parallel sessions,
accommodating a total of about seventy speakers. The parallel
sessions will all be held in Newman House, a Georgian townhouse
on St Stephen's Green and the original site of the university
founded by Cardinal Newman in the mid-nineteenth century. The
confirmed plenary speakers are: Barry Bergdoll (MoMA and Columbia
University, New York), Steve Pile (Open University, UK), and Anthony
Vidler (The Cooper Union, New York). Barry Bergdoll and Steve Pile
will speak on the Friday, Anthony Vidler on the Saturday. His talk
will be chaired by Kathleen James-Chakraborty, who will also offer
a concluding overview of the conference. The plenary sessions will
take place in the late afternoon/evening of Friday and Saturday in
the auditorium of the National Gallery of Ireland in Merrion Square,
a short walk from Newman House.
